Definition for : Pre-emptive action

Pre-emptive action takes place when a company immediately reflects expectations of an increase in the Cost of a Production Factor by charging higher selling prices. Pre-emptive action is particularly rapid where no alternative products exist in the short to medium term and competition in the sector is not very intense.
